A green connection into the heart of Lichfield

Plans have now been submitted for Linear Park, a new green gateway into Lichfield city centre and a key part of the ongoing regeneration of the Birmingham Road site.

If approved, the Linear Park will provide a welcoming landscaped route linking Lichfield City Station with the heart of the city, improving how people arrive in and move through the city centre. Around 23 metres wide, the park will include trees, hedgerows, footpaths, seating areas and natural play features, bringing new green space into this important location.

The park will connect key destinations including the new cinema and plaza, future residential areas, the Lichfield Garrick Theatre and the historic city centre, helping to create a more accessible and attractive environment for residents and visitors.

A key step in regeneration

Linear Park is one of the first major elements of the Birmingham Road regeneration programme to be brought forward. The council is continuing to deliver key improvements across the site, helping to create a greener, more welcoming gateway into Lichfield while preparing the area for the next phase of development.

What happens next

The planning application for Linear Park will now be considered as part of the council’s planning process. Subject to approval, work on the park is expected to be one of the first visible changes on the Birmingham Road site, with further updates shared as the project progresses.
