We are working on a project to transform Stychbrook Park into a new multi-functional leisure facility.
Our ambitions are to deliver the leisure centre by the end of the year 2024.
Why are we building a new leisure facility?
We need to replace the current ageing Friary Grange Leisure Centre and give residents a safe, exciting community facility. Although significant repairs have been carried out the building is nearing the end of its useful life.
This new leisure centre is vitally important to the future of the city and the district and represents so much more than just a building.
We know that exercise and keeping fit is of importance to keep health at all ages, and we are committed to investing in leisure activities for all age groups.
We hope that this new facility, alongside Burntwood Leisure Centre, will become a focal point for helping increase participation in leisure and sport across our district.
The new leisure centre will be located at Stychbrook Park, Lichfield – get directions.
The new leisure centre facilities will include:

“Whether as a training ground for the next generation of Olympians, or as a community hub in which to stay physically and mentally in superb health, all of us at ReCreation are thrilled to be developing this new leisure centre for the people of Lichfield” Becky Adlington OBE
In June 2023 suitably qualified and experienced consultants ReCreation were awarded the contract to develop the designs for the facility to help ensure we deliver the best option for local residents.
“We are delighted to be developing this exciting new facility with the council, for the benefit of the people of Lichfield. Using our cutting-edge methods of design and construction, our mission is to build inviting swimming pools and recreational facilities that people love going to. By appointing us at ReCreation, the council have enabled local residents to have their own state-of-the-art, well-being destination” Adrian Turner, Director of Developments at ReCreation
