Across the district, new investment and regeneration projects are creating opportunities to improve the places where people live and spend their time. Lichfield District Council has an important role to play in helping shape that change. We believe new development needs to respect what makes our communities special while also meeting the needs of people who live here now and in the future.
Our approach is about creating places that work well for the people who use them. That means thinking carefully about the character of an area, the quality of its buildings and public spaces and the impact development can have on everyday life.
Regeneration does not happen overnight. Some projects take years of planning, consultation and preparation before work becomes visible on site.
This website has been created to make it easier to follow that work. Here you can find information about current projects, consultations and future development opportunities. We will update the site as projects progress, decisions are made and new information becomes available.
Our aim is to make information clear and straightforward, so residents, businesses and visitors can understand what is happening and how it may affect the places they know.
Here you can find answers to some of the questions we are most often asked about LDC Developments, our projects and how you can get involved.
Lichfield District is growing and changing. Development can help provide the homes, jobs, facilities and infrastructure that communities need, while also supporting the long-term future of the district.
There are opportunities for residents and communities to have their say at different stages of a project. Where a consultation is taking place, information about how to get involved will be shared on this website and, where appropriate, on the main Lichfield District Council website.
Information about projects will be shared through this website and, where appropriate, through consultation and engagement with local communities.
We aim to involve local communities early where there is an opportunity to influence how a project develops. Feedback can help inform proposals, design and the way projects are taken forward.
Development proposals are considered through the planning process and need to take account of relevant planning policies, guidance and other considerations. Design, heritage, transport, the environment and the needs of local communities can all be important considerations.
Planning decisions are made by assessing each application against national planning policy, the council’s adopted Local Plan and other relevant planning policies and guidance. The council also considers other material planning considerations, such as the design and appearance of a proposal, traffic and highway safety, impact on neighbours, trees and wildlife, flooding, heritage and conservation, and other relevant matters.
People can comment on planning applications during the consultation period.
You can find out more about the planning process on the Lichfield District Council website: www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/planning
Information about individual projects, including their progress and any relevant consultation information, can be found in the Projects section of this website. Updates may also be shared through Lichfield District Council’s main website and social media channels.
